Do Your Dream

Hey there. My name is Christy and I'm new to the whole blogging/website/create-content-for-the-whole-world-to-see world. It's a little scary, not gonna lie, but it's also scary to think what I would be missing out on if I didn't just go for it. Hence, the reason I'm here.

I recently spent four days in Denver, Colorado at a retreat with 50 women, as we bravely contemplated our lives, who God has made us to be, how He has uniquely gifted each one of us, and what He is calling us to do next. For several, it was to let go of their need for control and set out in faith. For others it was to trust Him in the really hard, yucky, painful, messy places of life. For some, it was an exercise in boldness as they sat in a room full of women they didn't know and were forced to make friends. (And all the introverts in the room raised their hand. Halfway.) For me, it was a space to be reminded that not only has God given me gifts and dreams and a purpose, but that I needed a little push off the edge in my quest towards obedience. Creating this website is the result of that push.

And though I am proud of myself for taking the plunge and doing my first brave thing as I seek to pursue and discover the dreams God placed deep within me, He used the speaker on the last day of the retreat to put a very large exclamation point on all I had gleaned from the week. The lesson? Pursue Jesus first. Period. You can only do your dream if you know the Dream-Giver. It's not enough to chase after great ideas and meaningful goals if it's all done in human strength and striving. I want the power of the Spirit driving my dreams, my goals, my efforts. Because only when I'm faithfully and diligently pressing into Him will He reveal new facets of the dream.

I want to be used. I want to be faithful. But more than anything, I want Jesus.
